East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, NC, has an ESL (English as Second Language) program blooming with newcomers - 26 students from the sophomore class represent 14 countries: Brazil, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Venezuela, Eritrea, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, Syria, Thailand and Vietnam. World Story Exchange welcomed the opportunity to work with these students.
The students learned photo and video skills before planning their stories and documenting with WSE cameras. Then they wrote/recorded narrations and finally edited a 2-3 minute film using iMovie. We turned a storage closet into a recording studio and used the school's new computer lab for editing - worked great!
